Project 365 ~ Day 11 (January 11, 2009)

For today, I decided to continue blogging on the subject of "snow" in my life. I do miss having a white Christmas, but even in Ohio we were not always guaranteed one! We moved to Houston, Texas, in 2004. That Christmas Eve, it snowed here! We are in the southeast part of Houston, between the city and the bay. It was the first time in 18 years that it had snowed in this portion of Texas, and the first time in 25 years that it had snowed on Christmas Eve! We are sure that we must have moved it here with us (or the wish for it anyway)! Ha! Then, during Easter weekend of 2007, we had gone to the Scarborough Fair (a renaissance festival) in Huntsville, Texas (approx. a two hour drive north of Houston) and it snowed! On the way to the "Fair", we saw bluebonnets and paintbrush (flowers) in full bloom. On the way home later the same day, they were covered with snow! We stopped so we could play in it. Then, on December 13, 2008, it snowed in our area of Houston, Texas, again! Wow! What a treat! Not late enough for a white Christmas, but still it put us all in the Christmas mood. And to think, my 10 year-old son flew to Ohio to visit his dad over Christmas and did not get to see any snow there! Go figure! By the way, my young son also learned how to ice skate here in Texas (in an indoor rink of course) versus learning in Ohio where the ponds freeze on their own every winter!!
